1. What is the Quote with Audio block?

The Quote with Audio block allows you to add styled quotes to pages on arup.com. This block allows you to highlight important statements or ideas in your copy. Adding an audio file to this block is optional. Please use this block even if you’re not adding audio. This block can be used on several page types including Project and News pages.

2. How to use the Quote with Audio block

It is important to note that you do not need to use this block to add all quotes. The block is designed to act as a visual focus for words spoken about Arup - primarily from those outside the company talking about our work or the advantages of working with us.

In general you should ensure that quotes are no longer than five lines of text once presented in the block.

2.1 Quotes in Project pages

When adding this component to Project pages, you should only ever include quotes from non-Arup staff. Praise from our own staff is irrelevant - quotes from collaborators or clients carry far more value and should be highlighted wherever possible.

2.2 Quotes in News pages

News articles will often require multiple, long quotes, both from staff at Arup and/or collaborators or clients. Where there are multiple quotes in a story, you should simply add these into a Rich Text block as described in the guidance for that block.

You should utilise the Quote with Audio block in news items to draw attention to a particularly powerful quote or segment of a quote which will be of interest to the reader or which shows Arup in a positive light.

3. Creating a Quote with Audio block

To add the block to your page, you must create it within the Main Content area of the CMS.

Within the “Content” tab of the content editor, navigate to the section titled “Main Content area”. Click “Select Content” then “Create a new block”. You’ll then be presented with a list of different blocks to choose from. Please select the block named “Quote with Audio Block”.

After selecting the block, give it a name. If you’re adding multiple quotes, you should add the person’s name to the block name to help differentiate between the different quote blocks easily. E.g. “Quote Jerome”, “Quote Dervilla” etc.

You should then populate the fields as follows:

  • Testimonial Text – use this to add in the copy of your quote. Remember, this block is designed for shorter quotes that are 2-3 sentences long as a maximum
  • Name – add the name of the person the quote should be attributed to
  • Testimonial Role – add the role and organisation of the person that the quote is being attributed to.
  • Audio – this is an optional field and is likely to be left blank. If you wish to use add this then the audio file should be saved as an .mp3 file
